Piper calling the tune in Bay success

COLIN CROW batted well for 38 in Mitford’s 100-4 against Whitley Bay in Division Two.
In Bay’s reply, Niall Piper dominated their innings - hitting 84 not out out of 103-3.
NE Tamils scored 116-7 in only 12 eight-ball overs with Suresh making 38 and Kas taking 3-17 but, before Matrics Barbarians could start their innings, the weather intervened.
In Division Three there was a quick finish when Cramlington won with 54-1 in only 5.4 overs against BelmontE - Garry Barnes 25 not out - to overhaul BelMontE’s 50-5, Stephen Parker taking 3-13.
Ross Symington was on fire for Bates Cottages against Eaga Old Boys with 89 not out (seven fours and five sixes in just 43 balls) out of 153-2 before it was abandoned.
Division Four saw more action with a good win for Matfen Hall against Proctor and Gamble - thanks to M Sewell’s 66.
Hall posted 97-2 in response to Procter and Gamble’s 96 all out.
Thirteen-year-old Calum Fletcher scored a mature 66 not out for CCC as their 105-0 overhaul edHexham Leazes’ 102-4 .
Sparta secured a 41-run success win over Park House thanks to 45 from Michael Bowman and 38 not out from Andy Langley in their 117-4.
House were 76-6 in reply with D Foster 32 not out.
Division One matches fell foul of the weather.
That division has been reduced to seven teams with the departure of 2011 league champions Adders. ■■THERE was a close match between Bill Quay and Littletown in the Readers Durham County League, LIttletown triumphing by just eight runs.
Littletown posted just 111 - but it proved enough as Bill Quay ended up eight runs short on 103 all out.
Berwick Hall claimed 5-27 and Bryan Conlon 3-18.
Durham City lost by just seven runs in a high-scoring game at Tudhoe.
The home side amassed 232-8 thanks to Alex McGrath with 62, Andrew Carrick 33 and Daniel Thexton 89, Nick Howe returning figures of 5-62.
City totalled 225 all out in reply, opener Jacob McCann scoring a fine 105 and Drew Watson made 44.
Alex McGrath then registered figures of 4-45 and Michael Coulthard with 3-48.
Seaham Park beat Easington by six wickets, Michael Walker claiming 5-7 for the Seaham and Dawdon beat Philadelphia by two wickets, Gary Innes takng 6-44 and Ryan Consitt hitting 60 not out.
