Hitting the first century of the season, they then restricted Civil Service to 140-6 with Anil Adam scoring 52 and Xohaib Shahid taking 4-30.

Also, Kirkwood 64-4 beat Park House who posted 60-5, Shekar taking 3-7 in two overs. Felling 87 all out beat Cramlingto­n held to 70-4.

The League season is picking up after a good week of evening weather and in Division 1 there was a key win for Blue Flames 140-8 based on 54 by Hasan Raza to beat Ratcatcher­s 125 all out with 30 for Eddie Scott and Amjad Khan 3-31. Amjad Ali took 5-21 for Kirkwood to beat Boxbreaker­s who were 62 all out. Jaswinder Singh hit a rapid 32 not out and Mukhtar Hussain 21 for a comfortabl­e 8 wickets win.

In Division 2, North Star top scored with 140-7, Waseem scoring 46, to overhaul Matrics Barbarians 138-4 thanks to 70 from veteran Shahzad Alvi. Sage with 136-5 and a 50 from Ross Burdon and 30 by Michael Phillips were too strong for Whitley Bay who fell short with 85-7 after the loss of Niall Piper for 33 and Graham Ord 21. Khalid Azam hit 66 and took 4-23 for West End to beat Mitford Boars by 6 wickets and NE Tamils 120-5 secured a 5 wickets win over Genetics. Nish hit 54 for the Tamils and Dave Purvis 56 not out for Genetics.

Divisions 3 and 4 saw a host of friendly games with wins for Eaga Old Boys, Oddfellows and Matfen Hall who have all shown good improvemen­t already this season.
