But Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital needs your help to clinch a cinema installation worth more than £15,000 for its children’s ward.

Ward 23 is one of several across the country vying for the prize which will bring comfort and enjoyment to children undergoing treatment.

The winning hospital will receive a cinema room, complete with a full suite of top-of-the-range equipment including a HD projector and 100” screen, surround sound, a Blu-Ray player and games console, as well as a series of children’s movies.

The “Cine-makeover” competition is run by Finite Solutions, a national company specialising in smart home technologies and cinema design and installation.

Patients, relatives, hospital staff and members of the public were invited to nominate their local children’s hospital or ward to received the full cinema room installation.

Nominees were asked to submit a short description of what the new facility could be used for first, such as hosting a Disney film marathon, or a pyjama party with popcorn.

Now, it is up to the people of Newcastle to help the Freeman Hospital come out on top.

Simon Mathieson, Finite Solutions’ consultancy director, said: “We’ve been blown away by the fantastic response we’ve had to the “Cine-makeover” campaign.

“There’s definitely a need to create this kind of facility and we’re delighted to be able to offer this fun, exciting and mood-changing package to one, very deserving hospital.

“Thank you to everyone who entered – it’s now up to the public to get behind their local hospital or ward for their chance to win – good luck to everyone!”

The vote will also be coupled with the opinions of an expert panel of judges including Mark Craven, Editor of Home Cinema Choice magazine, Margaret Jeal, acting chair of the Action for Sick Children Charity and Rich Williams, Yorkshire Drivetime presenter for Heart Radio. ■■To vote visit www.finitesolutions. co.uk/cine-makeover.
