STANDARD SECURITY BLYTH & WANSBECK SUNDAY LEAGUE Amble prove they’re still ones to beat

-

AMBLE Tavern retained their NFA Sunday Cup, as they remained the best Sunday team in the county.

The Tavern came from behind twice against Burradon and New Fordley from the Cramlington Sunday League, to take the game into extra time.

Amble had won all four of the finals they have reached this season, and their goals this time came from a Josh Hay brace, one the penalty in extra time which put Amble ahead.

Rob Baker, Liam Brooks and Brent Aisbitt were also all on target during the final.

In the Premier Division, Ashington RAOB ensured the destination of the league title will go down to a final-game decider this weekend. They won away against Bedlington Social Club 6-1, Darren Dodd scoring for the Social Club with Ryan Gair their star player.

The goals for the Buffs came from two hat-tricks – Kyle Oliver and star player Kieran Robson the players on target.

Special mention goes to referee George Cammeron who has now hung up his whistle after this, his final game in the middle.

Both sides made a guard of honour and the league chairman made a presentation to mark Cammeron’s services to the league over the years.

Blyth Town did their normal thing for the final game of the season, all player names going into a hat with the team selected this way.

It always ends up in defeat, this time Town going down 6-2 against Bedlington Market Tavern.

Goals for Blyth Town came from centre-half Martyn Hepple and Liam Gillesphey, with Chris Davison their star player.

Star man Jonny Barrett led the scoring for the Tavern with a hattrick, and further goals came from Ross Fuller, Daniel Dargue and Chris Hay. Ashington Station Lounge had a good 7-0 win at home against Ellington Plough. Jack Philips was star man for the Plough.

Daniel McDonald led the scoring for the Lounge with four, and was their star player.

Kieran Park completed the scoring with a hat-trick.
