Voyager are snookered by opponents in 16-1 reverse

SNOOKER Club A played the Voyager in the South Tyneside Super Darts League, and were 5-0 ahead after the triples and the pairs.

It did not get any better in the singles for a shell-shocked Voyager team as wins by John Nicholson, Paul Morrison, Gordon Barkas, Dave Stephenson and Brain Campbell gave the Snooker Club a 15-0 lead.

Mick Slight got the Voyager’s only point in his draw with Jim Hewison to make the final score a 16-1 victory for the Snooker Club.

Gordon Barkas hit 3x180 and Dave Stephenson hit a 160 out shot.

Alberta were the visitors to the Cyprus and took a 4-1 lead into the singles.

Trevor Auty then won for the Cyprus while John Maughan v Dave Dunn (180) and Chris Geach v George Hardy were draws, but wins for Chris Reay, Barry McCann and Dave Gutteridge gave the Jarrow lads a 12-5 victory.

Boldon Lad took a slender 3-2 lead after the triples and the pairs against the Snooker Club B; in the singles Eddie Gutteridge’s match against Dave Mochan ended in a draw, as did Denis Archbold v Shaun Galloway, Chris Lagan v John Turner and Phil Armstrong v John Ramsay to make the score 7-6 to the Boldon Lad.

Wins by Paul Lamberts Snr and Paul Lambert Jnr gave the Boldon Lad an 11-6 victory, with George Morley hitting a 171 (3x57).

In the Westoe derby it was the A Team at home to the Room team, the latter 3-2 ahead before the singles games. Jimmy Hudson won for the A Team as did John Neilson for the Room, so with Bob Compton v Lenny Stephenson, Ray Stobbs v Steve Graham, Bob Urwin v Peter Buglass and Chris Robinson v Chris Stephenson all draws, the final score was a 9-8 win for the Westoe Room.

Chris Robinson and John Neilson hit 180s during the derby clash, while Chris also recorded a 109 finish.

Caledonian played the Westoe Bar B and it was the Westoe lads who took a 3-2 lead into the singles.

Paul Johnson (180), Peter Stephenson, Ernie Hudson and Dave Hatch all won for the Westoe, while Billy Stevenson v Andy Nellist and Dave Sinclair v Tony Ellis were draws, to make the final score a 14-3 victory for Westoe.
