Tynedale hope first win will Lead to second

-

TYNEDALE welcome Leadgate and visiting secretary Gary Dixon said: “We are hoping to build on our first win of the season last weekend, after some good performances from Callan McCabe, Luke McCabe and Toby Belton.

“We’re expecting a hard game against one of the better sides in the league. Skipper David Richardson will be missing due to being on holiday – otherwise we are at fullstrength.

Ponteland are at home to Consett and skipper Jonny Appleby said: “It will be a good game against Consett. They had a good win last week, and we narrowly lost.

“If we keep playing the way that we have been, it will be a chance to get a win, but we have to be better than we have been.

“We’ve got the first few weeks of the season out of the way, so we can kick forward now.”

Jonny added: “David Waters is missing due to being on holiday, and Neil Stanley is unavailable, but Iftikhar Fazal is back from work, and Paul Lindsay is back from holiday.”

Percy Main entertain champions Ashington, and secretary Andrew Cherry said: “We were disappointed to get bowled for 79 at Lanchester last week.

“Ashington are currently standing as league champions, so we are hoping to put on a better performance and give them a good run for their money.”

Swalwell host Lanchester and secretary Paul Dumighan said: “This will probably be one of our hardest tests of the season so far.

“They’re a good, strong side and have only lost one game so far. They will be looking to beat us and get back on the same level in terms of points.

“It will be a hard game but we’re looking forward to it.

“Sam Hedley, who was missing last week, will be back in place of Sam Heron, who will return to the seconds.”

Ryton travel to Lintz and skipper David Howorth said: “It’s a huge game against Lintz, but we need to win. We will be around about where they are towards the end of the season, so we need to work to get above them.

“Chris McClymont and Aiden Wood are out, but Adam Purcell and Jonathan O’Neill are back in.”

Shotley Bridge entertain Newcastle City and are 16 points behind the leaders Swalwell, so they will be keen to win the game.

City, however, are 14 points adrift of safety and have other priorities to consider at the bottom.
