The 20-year-old was taken to Newcastle’s RVI where he received treatment for head and chest injuries following the incident in the Throckley area.

Police said his injuries are not life threatenin­g.

Officers were called to a disturbanc­e involving a group of men around the Newburn Road and Hallow Drive area on May 6.

Two men, 18 and 38, and two youths of 13 and 15 were arrested and have now been released from police custody pending further inquiries.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses to the alleged incident to come forward.
