Traffic & travel update

BY CAR:

The A1290 is closed due to major road improvements between Usworth Station Road/Sulgrave Road and Cherry Blossom Way. Diversion is via the A1231 Sunderland Highway.

There are narrow lanes and a speed restriction of 30mph due to long-term roadworks at the Silverlink Roundabout in North Tyneside.

Expect delays on the A194 at Leam Lane while the road is widened from two lanes to three.

Temporary traffic lights and roadworks during off-peak periods on the A688 Thinford between the A167 and the A177. This is between 9.30am and 3.30pm. BY BUS:

The A1231 Stockton Road in Ashbrooke will be closed northbound between The Cedars and Gorse Road from 8am to 6pm on Sunday for resurfacing. During the closures, buses towards Sunderland city centre will be unable to serve Ryhope Road/Stockton Road north of The Cedars/Villette Road. Go North East routes 60 and 61 will divert via Villette Road, Toward Road, Borough Road, Holmeside and Stockton Road.

Arriva route 22 will divert via The Cedars, Queen Alexandra Road and Durham Road. BY METRO:

On Sunday an additional early morning Metro train has been scheduled to assist South Shields Football Club fans make their way to London to see the final of the FA Vase. The train will leave South Shields station at 6.30am arriving at Central Station at 6.56am. BY TRAIN:
