Matty’s King of the wickets, taking three for just 18 runs JUNIOR CRICKET

NORTHUMBER­LAND AND TYNESIDE SENIOR LEAGUE U18 Tyneside League Cup: Lanchester hosted Whickham and the home side were asked to bat first, making 139-5, with Owen Shield leading the way with 43, while Matty King bowled brilliantl­y, taking the first three wickets for just 18 runs.

When Whickham batted, they were just six runs short of their target, scoring 130-3, thanks to openers Matthew Purdy (41) and Scott Richardson (59no). Aaron Halliday took two of the wickets for 25 runs.

Brandon’s Adam Khan scored a tremendous 92 and Dean Storey jnr hit 79 not out in their 180-1 at home to Willington. However, a quite magnificen­t reply from Willington’s opening bat and skipper Jake Louth (135), including 13 fours and eight sixes, saw his side home with seven balls to spare.

Stocksfiel­d batted first in their match at Lintz and scored a healthy 157-1, which Lintz could not match. They made 131-5 off their 20 overs.

Tynedale entertaine­d Burnopfiel­d and the visitors chose to bat first, totalling 112-5, with 54 from Daniel Hutton, while Matt Pugh took 2-26. Tynedale comfortabl­y knocked off the runs in 14.2 overs, with 32 from Dale Leadbitter and 49 not out from Euan Stephenson, in their total of 116-1.

Evenwood only made 68-9 in their match at Mainsforth, with Lewis Jowett and Issac Marron each taking two wickets. The home side then scored the required runs off 12.3 overs, in their score of 72-1, with Adam Thirlaway top-scoring with 24 not out.

Ryton entertaine­d Leadgate and batted first, scoring an excellent 136-3, with Chris Robb making 38 and, when Leadgate batted, they scored only 20-8, off 13.3 overs.

Under 15 Willis Elliott Cup: South Northumber­land scored 179-6 off their 20 overs and Consett c fell well short on 124-2. Tyneside Division: Ryton scored 142-5 when they faced Beamish & East Stanley, with opener Tyler Cash scoring 32 and Joe Marshall making a superb 50. When Beamish & East Stanley batted, they only made 60-6, with Aran Baker and Tom Taylor each taking two wickets.

Lintz scored 131-1 in their game at home to Shotley Bridge and, in reply, the visitors were all out for 107, giving Lintz a comfortabl­e 24-run win. Blaydon v Lanchester – Match abandoned, rain; Whickham v Greenside – Match abandoned, rain.
