TRAGEDY AS MUCH-LOVED FRIEND LOSES BATTLE TWO WEEKS ON

TRIBUTES have been paid to a muchloved dad who died in an alleged attack outside a Northumberland nightclub.

Jason Glancey, 45, was found with serious head injuries outside the Deja Vu venue on Stanley Street, in Blyth, on April 30. He was taken to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary, where he died more than two weeks later on May 17.

Jason, also known as Hank, has been described as a “top lad” by friends.

Childhood pal Gordon Hudson said: “He was a kind soul and a man with his heart in the right place.

“He loved music, the outdoors, cars and life and he would do anything for anyone. The outpouring of love from all of his friends illustrates just how much of a stellar bloke he was. He will be missed by everyone.”

Ruth Towse said: “Hank was loved by a lot of people and will be great miss to all. It is such a tragedy that it has happened to such a great man.”

Sharon Common described Jason as the “life and soul of the party”.

She said: “I will miss his loyalty, his energy and his lust for life. He’ll never be forgotten.”

And Emma Sim-Dobson said: “Hank was really friendly and would always be there if you needed someone to listen to. I am devastated as I only spoke to him a few weeks before it happened about going for a coffee and meeting up again.”

On Saturday, a fundraiser at The Eagle pub in Blyth in memory of Jason raised £1,365. A GoFundMe page has also raised £630 to help his family pay for the funeral.

Emma thanked everyone who helped organise the event and said they raised “some amazing funds for an amazing friend”.

Jason, of The Oval, Blyth, leaves behind his mum June Sanderson and 10-year-old son Jack Glancey.

Two men, aged 21 and 22, were arrested in connection with the alleged assault and have been released pending further inquiries.

Police said inquiries are on-going and anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting reference 223 30/04/17.
