Paedo dad snared by fake profile

MAN, 41, HAD ARRANGED TO MEET UP WITH ‘GIRL’ AGED JUST 13

Reporter A DAD was snared by paedophile hunters after he turned up in Newcastle city centre hoping to meet a 13-year-old girl.

Wayne Sudama had contacted a ‘youngster’ called Roxy on chat and dating site Waplog and began conversations with her.

He then arranged to meet the ‘girl’ at the Centre for Life but was instead confronted by members of Dark Justice – who had set up the fake profile of Roxy.

As a result Sudama, 41, of Cambridge Avenue, Hebburn, was charged with attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming and pleaded guilty to the offence at Newcastle Crown Court. Prosecutor Paul Reid said the defendant posted a message for Roxy on the website in March 2015.

The ‘girl’ told him she was 13, however it was in fact Dark Justice pretending to be Roxy.

Sudama exchanged messages with the teenager and suggested that she could meet him in Cullercoats.

He told her he had vodka which she could drink and said she “must not tell anyone she was drinking vodka or you will get into trouble”.

He further told Roxy they could meet up on the Metro, go for a walk, go to his house and sleep on his double bed.

At one point he said they could “snuggle up and take it from there” before telling her “you are so hot”.

They finally made arrangements to meet at the Centre for Life, near the railway station. When Sudama arrived, Dark Justice identified him.

Mr Reid added: “They phoned the police and went to confront him and he walked off.”

The defendant later went to a police station voluntarily and told officers he had no intention of doing anything sexual with Roxy but had wanted to warn the youngster about what she was doing.

David Callum, for Sudama, said the defendant was a man of good character with no previous convictions and had up until now led a blameless life.

Judge Stephen Earl handed Sudama a 14-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, and ordered him to take part in a rehabilitation programme as well as signing the sex offenders’ register for 10 years.

He must also pay £1,000 court costs and a £140 victim surcharge.

Judge Earl said he was suspending the jail sentence as there was “still a realistic prospect of you being rehabilitated with an appropriate order”.
