SOUTH Shields made a commendabl­e 148 against Sunderland in the Central Division of the Durham Cricket Board Junior League.

Bradley Flaxen made 43 not out and Luke Elliott 61, with Joseph Stuart taking 3-31.

When the Wearsiders batted, they only made 49 all out.

Peterlee welcomed Sunderland in Division One and batted first, totalling 121-8 - Ben Brown hitting 34 and Bethany Walker recording figures of 4-31.

When it was Sunderland’s turn to bat, they did well after losing early wickets.

Ollie Barrett smashed 63 - but they fell just three runs short of the target in reaching 118-5.

Sacriston made 136-5 against Boldon, Dominic Scott with 67.

The South Tynesiders, though, were too strong and, with Joseph Forster posting 48 not out, prevailed by eight wickets.

South Shields reached 133-7 in their home match against Sunderland, who could only muster 54-6 in their innings.

In Division Three, Burnmoor attained 70-6 against Ryhope, Scott Burgess with 33.

Leyton Watts took 4-22 for Ryhope and when they batted Kristian Jefferson took a brilliant 4-12 in the Wearsiders’ 36 all out.

CHESTER-LE-STREET attained 116-5 against Sacriston in the semi-finals of the Ken Ferguson Memorial Trophy.

Harry Days top-scored with 37 and there were two wickets for Harry Iveson and Jack Adams.

Sacriston openers Jonny Bushnell (53no) and Jack Adams (51no) then put on a 119-run partnershi­p to win the game by 10 wickets.

Eppleton struggled against excellent bowling at Hetton Lyons, being dismissed for 66.

Joe Weightman took an amazing 3-0 and there were two wickets apiece for Oliver Watt, Luke Husband and Ethan Dixon.

Lyons’ skipper Miles Birbeck made 50 not out as his team ended on 69-0.

IN the Northumber­land and Tyneside Senior League’s Under-18 Division, Greenside mustered only 57-6 against Lanchester, David Selby taking 3-7.

Lanchester knocked off the winning runs for the loss of just two wickets.

Jordan O’Neill struck 52 not out in Ryton’s win against Lintz.
