Blacks’ squad is developing nicely

GOALS GALORE IN NEW TEAM’S FIRST SEASON

-

NORTH Shields Juniors’ Under-Eight Blacks have ended a season of “huge development” in style.

A new team in the Pinpoint Junior League, the Blacks played 20 games - winning nine and drawing two.

Most impressively, all eight players in the squad scored over the course of the campaign.

Foremost among them was Connor Fox, who in the club’s end-of-season awards claimed the Top Goalscorer trophy, while Beck Malone was awarded the prize for Best Centre Forward.

Save of the Season went to Sam Booth, Best Drag-Back to Ben Armstrong and the winner of the Manager’s Challenge (running forward with the ball) was Jayden Pitcher.

The Manager’s Player of the Season was Thomas Hildreth, Parents’ Player of the Season was Sam Nugent and the Players’ Player Award went to Charlie McCann.

Manager Ian Booth said: “The lads have had a brilliant season, they have done really well.

“For a new team they have shown huge development, learning the rules of the game and about positions and tactics.

“Every player scored as well, which is really pleasing. It shows what a good group we have.

“I would like to thank all the parents, especially my assistant manager Andrew Armstrong. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank our team sponsor Bay Plastics and our training kit sponsors Stratstone BMW and MINI, for whose support we are extremely grateful.

“We are now looking forward to next season and another year of development.”
