Lyons roaring to an emphatic win

HETTON Lyons made an excellent score of 130-3 when they travelled to South Shields in Division One of the Durham Cricket Board Junior League.

Opener Tom Lawson made 35 while skipper Callan Salkeld hit 51 not out, Sam Marshall claiming 2-28.

South Shields scored 82-7, skipper Ben Scott with the top score of 29, while Logan Barton returned excellent bowling figures of 3-15 to win his team the game.

Chester-le-Street entertaine­d Durham City and the visitors decided to bat first after winning the toss.

Unfortunat­ely, they only managed 36-8, Tye Burke batting defensivel­y for seven not out off 45 balls.

Harry Days, with an incredible 5-4, took the bowling honours.

Opener Ben Keating struck 29 not out for the Cestrians to wrap the game up as they reached 40-1 off just 4.3 overs.

In Division Two, Murton batted first after Seaham Harbour won the toss and posted 106-1 off their 20 overs.

Josh Greenfield, with 53 not out, and Liam Potts, with 29 not out, ensured a decent total.

When Seaham Harbour batted, they totalled 86-2 with Ben McKinney top-scoring with 43 not out but his team ended up 20 runs short in the end.

Boldon could only muster 49 all out when they travelled to Castle Eden - Ian Unsworth claiming 3-15 with two wickets each for Ben Simpson, Jordan Bell and Jack Fallow.

They then knocked off the winning runs for the loss of one wicket (51-1), Unsworth scoring 21 not out.

Eppleton racked up 125-3 when they entertaine­d Whitburn, Layla Tipton scoring 50 not out and Edward Brown 40 in a partnershi­p of 71 for the second wicket.

Whitburn in reply attained 57 all out, Oscar Heslop their top-scorer with 22.

Edward Brown was Eppleton’s destroyer with the ball, claiming a brilliant 5-6 off his four overs.

In Division Three, Burnmoor batted reasonably well in making 87-0 when they travelled to Easington, Kristian Jefferson contributi­ng 50 not out.

Easington squeezed home with 89-7, Rhys Brown striking 35 and Ewan Archer 28.

Felling made 82-5 off their allocated 20 overs against Dawdon, the visitors only managing 50-9 in reply.

Esh Winning batted first when they travelled to Willington in the South West League.

They compiled a good total of 120-4, Steven Blake making 50 not out and Jenson Hibbtts adding 35 as they put on 103 together.

Isaac Femyhough was the pick of the bowlers, returning 3-28.

Willington then knocked off the runs required (124-5) with just one ball to spare as William Curry smashed 42 and Isaac Femyhough 29.

Crook decided to bat first after winning the toss at home to Langley Park and made a massive 1405, Daniel Pratt with 50 not out and Jamie Wills 55 not out.

In reply, skipper and opening batsman Craig Williams led the way with 50 not out but his team fell 40 runs short of their target.
