Fantastic fathers and the little ones so proud to call them ‘my dad’

Enjoy our photo gallery of children young and old showing their dads how much they love them

IT was the day for dads to step into the limelight. To celebrate Father’s Day in Newcastle and beyond, we asked for dads’ favourite smiley photos with their babies, of whatever age.

And what a happy sight they are! Our thanks to all who submitted photographs. You can see the whole gallery at chroniclelive.co.uk

We also asked dads to sum up what being a father means to them. Mark Coxon said: “Being a father is my greatest accomplishment. I have one child, Rachel, aged 10, and she is my world. I’m bursting with pride in everything she does and love her with all my heart.”

Linzi Howard, of Cramlington, sent a photo in on behalf of hubby Darren, who is in hospital. She said: “The photo shows my gorgeous boy, Riley, and his dad on one of their many train rides around the Metrocentre. Rare moments as Darren has dialysis and is tired on many occasions. Hopefully good news soon as he’s in hospital awaiting a kidney transplant. Father’s Day will be in hospital but we are so thankful.”

Richard Rigg, from Ashington, said: “Being a dad is about doing whatever it takes to make your princess happy. Even if that means going out of your comfort zone sometimes.”

Alan Burr said: “Being a dad to my lovely little lady Sophie means the world to me.”

And Chris Horsfall, of Gateshead, said it’s simply “the best feeling in the world”.

Craig Purvis, of Gateshead, sent a photo with daughter Florence. He said: “I’m off to South Sudan for six months in July as part of the UN task force to help out with the humanitarian crisis. Hate to leave her for that long, but gotta pay the bills.”
