- By IAN ROBSON Reporter ian.robson@trinitymirror.com

DID you all enjoy the last few days of scorching sun?

Hope you made the best of it – because it’s going to get cooler.

It looks like yesterday was the best day of the week for temperatures in the North East.

The mercury in Newcastle reached 26C, dropped slightly at teatime, with the risk of an occasional heavy shower.

BBC Weather forecasters warned: “There will be more in the way of cloud developing through the afternoon with the odd heavy shower possible late in the day. Very warm once again, though

refreshingly cooler on coasts.” Temperatures were set to fall to 14C in the early hours of today, although it will be a dry night and some cloud will spread from the north.

So, what will it be like later in the week? Today

Today is when we will start to miss the best of the bright days as temperatures fail to get above 19 degrees.

The BBC forecast is: “Tuesday should be dry but with more cloud around compared to previous days and fewer bright or sunny intervals. Temperatures well down on those of Monday.” Best

time of the day will be between 2pm and 5pm.

There will be a very high pollen count, however, a feature of the whole week until Friday.

Tomorrow

Tomorrow will feel humid with some heavy showers or longer spells of thundery rain possible.

Best time to take the umbrella is after 10am, but it should brighten up by the early afternoon.

Another danger time for rain is after 7pm.

Best temperatures of the day are likely to be around 19C in the late afternoon. Thursday

Thursday is likely to be largely dry with some warm sunshine.

The temperatures will be slightly better than those on Wednesday, reaching 21C, but the pollen count remains very high.

Friday

Friday will see the lowest nighttime temperatures of the week – going down to as low as 11C.

The maximum daytime temperature will be 21C, with the best chance of sun in the early afternoon.

The pollen risk goes down from very high to high.
