Talk of a good start for Magpies - if computer technology works!

-

NEWCASTLE United will be in a European qualification spot after the first five Premier League games, according to a computer predictor.

The Magpies were handed a relatively favourable opening fixture list last week with Tottenham at St James’ Park at home first, followed by trips to Huddersfield and Swansea. There are also home ties with West Ham and Stoke, offering Rafa Benitez’s side good opportunities to get early points on the board.

That is exactly what they will do on their return to the top flight, according to TalkSport’s super computer which has predicted a strong start for Newcastle.

TalkSport fed various bits of data to the computer and asked it to predict the opening five fixtures of each side, with Newcastle sitting sixth in the table according to the predictions. Although no individual results are given in the article, the computer predicted Newcastle will win two and draw two of their first five.

That puts them on eight points as they sit sixth above Tottenham and West Brom on goal difference.

Man City top the table at that stage, meanwhile.

Both they and Liverpool are expected to win four and draw one, but Pep Guardiola’s side had the better goal difference.

The bottom three is made up of Stoke, Swansea and Crystal Palace.

That is certainly a start that most United fans would be delighted with.

As TalkSport point out though: “Bear in mind plenty can change between now and the start of the season, as the transfer window opens and managers sort out squads.”
