Tynemouth’s form can’t be predicted

-

AS the halfway stage of the Premier Division season arrives, Tynemouth host leaders South Northumberland tomorrow - and South North secretary Gordon Halliday is keen to see which Tynemouth team turns up.

He said: “They are an unpredictable side who can turn on a great performance one week and perhaps not the next week.

“We will not be underestimating them, that is for sure.”

Bottom club Felling produced their best performance of the season last week and should have beaten Benwell Hill.

They are at home to Newcastle, who are second and starting to see their season go in the right direction. Benwell Hill in third welcome the Durham Cricket Academy - one place below them to Denton Bank.

Skipper Kyle Coetzer is a welcome returnee for the home side after a spell of international duty with Scotland, as is Joe Kilpatrick, who replaces Anthony Hunter.

Sameet Brar also plays alongside John Chambers.

Coetzer said: “We have dropped to third, behind Newcastle and South North. “Haseeb Azam took five wickets last Saturday to no avail as our batsmen could not post a competitive total to give the team a chance of victory.”

Whitburn host Eppleton and Eppleton’s Director of Cricket John Smithson stated: “The team is at full strength which is important as this fixture will be a tough one.

“All areas of the team are producing the goods and are currently sixth in the table.”

South Shields welcome champions Chester-le-Street .

Cestrians’ skipper John Coxon said: “Jack Harrison is still away so we are likely to be unchanged.

“I hope the team gets back to winning ways so we can start to challenge the teams above us.” TOMORROW’S FIXTURES - Premier Division: Benwell Hill v Durham Cricket Academy, Tynemouth v South Northumberland, Stockton v Hetton Lyons, South Shields v Chesterle-Street, Whitburn v Eppleton, Felling v Newcastle.
