Trio are Back for the visit of Ashington

-

BACKWORTH have a tricky home match tomorrow as they host Ashington Rugby.

Looking to close the gap on the leaders, the second-placed team have Ben Sutton back in the side.

The opener returns along with Paul Walker and James Morgan, who will make his first appearance of the season after injury.

Chris Miller (24 wickets) and Chris Liddle (20 wickets) will be confident of adding to their tally against a side struggling with the bat.

Rugby were last season’s runnersup but, despite winning last week, they lie only 25 points above the relegation zone.

Adam Peacock returns to the side but bowler Cory Milburn has been ruled out for four to six weeks with a broken metatarsal.

Leaders Blyth make four changes for their match at Warkworth.

Opener Andy Clark returns with Darren Carr, Kevin Hudspith and Andy Rowell also coming in.

GEMs, who slipped to fifth after last weekend’s narrow defeat, host third-placed Blagdon Park.

The hosts have the league’s leading run scorer Javed Mirza and in-form all-rounder Zhoaib Shahid in their side as they aim to stay with the leaders.

A Park success will keep them in the mix with Blyth and Backworth.

Whickham need to register a home win if they wish to stay within the chasing pack.

The sixth-placed side meet fourthplaced Blue Flames, who field in-form bowler Mirza Balal Baig who has taken 25 wickets so far.

Bottom side Berwick host Corbridge with both sides in desperate need of points.

The borders club have not triumphed since the opening day, while Corbridge defeated Warkworth last week to move 11 points clear of the drop zone.

Both of last season’s promoted teams clash as Cramlington welcome Stobswood.

Cramlington won this fixture last year in Division One and will be hoping for a repeat result.

Level at the bottom with Warkworth, only extra extra bonus keeps them out of the drop zone.

Stobswood, like Whickham, need a victory to stay with the mid-table chasers.
