Flames are on fire to beat Civils

N/EAST MIDWEEK LEAGUE

BLUE Flames took over top spot in Division One after beating Civil Service by seven wickets.

They posted 118-3 - thanks to 50 from Amir and 29 not out from Shahnawaz Awan - to better Civil Service’s target of 114-6. S Amin took 4-15 off three overs.

For the Civils, T Davison scored 35 and Nikhil Bharti 25.

Boxbreaker­s’ 179-6 - achieved thanks to 70 from Z Shahid and 36 from Javed Mirza - was too much for Corinthian­s, who were dismissed for 129 despite Mark Foster hitting a defiant 41.

In Division Two, Genetics reached 136-3 courtesy of Jonny Bennett (55), Andy Horner (31 not out) and D Taylor (35 not out).

Opponents Whitley Bay made good progress until Chris Dunn was out for 38 but were disappoint­ed to end on 118-8 as Zac Brown claimed 3-25.

North Star remain top and undefeated as they added Mitford to their list of victims.

Star scored 126-4 - Justin Ormandy contributi­ng 48 - to better Mitford’s target of 123-9, Sujjad taking 5-26 as Keiran Mole scored 38.

West End beat Matrics Barbarians and Sage hit a massive 237-1 - Micky Phillips smashing 135 not out to overcome the NE Tamils.

The Tamils replied with a respectabl­e 205-7 thanks to 61 Suvaissan and 62 from Nish.

S Crampton registered figures of 4-50 off his four overs.

Cramlingto­n remain the leaders of Division Three despite wins for Bates Cottages, Merz and McLellan and High Stables.

Ross Symington with 54 and two wickets was the main man in the Bates’ defeat of Northern Rangers.

Ben O’Brien’s 36 and Roy Haygarth’s 42 not out were the backbone of Merz’s 88-1 to topple Eaga Old Boys, Nick Dodds claiming 4-13 in their 87-8.

Andy Weightman recorded 5-16 to help High Stables defeat BelMontE despite 44 not out from P Gosford.

In Division Four, Park House made 172-4 - Danny Gilchrist with 51 and Harry Brandon 50 Oddfellows replying with 117-5.

Tynemouth Bad Boys came good with 131-9 to beat Sparta’s response of 92-6 as Richie Hay bowled four overs, taking 4-3.

Marsden also beat Oddfellows and Hexham Leazes enjoyed a close victory over Matfen Hall.
