Bomar bouncing back in style

BOMARSUND bounced back from last week’s shock defeat, beating Whickham Seconds by 142 runs to move back to the top of the table.

Stephen Thain (51), Adam McTaggart (48) and youngster Adam Gardiner (44 not out) helped the hosts to 254-8.

Liam Besford claimed 4-32 and Matthew Crawford took 3-30 as the second team were bowled out for only 112 in reply.

For the second week running, Kirkley beat the league leaders ending Clara Vale’s brief stint at the top with a 45-run verdict.

Kirkley were all out for 153 with Christian Rowe hitting 39.

Jas Singh (3-21 and Joe Turnbull (3-20) helped bowl out Clara Vale for only 108 as Kirkley moved off the bottom.

Monkseaton lost at home to Backworth Seconds by seven wickets.

Opener Mark Tunstall carried his bat to finish 65 not out as Monkseaton totalled 179-9. Paul Robson (71 not out) and James Scott (38 not out) comfortabl­y guided the seconds to 183-3.

Whitley Bay suffered a second successive defeat, losing by 18 runs at Ulgham.

Darrell Campbell posted 48 as Ulgham were bowled out for 163.

Whitley Bay could only manage 145 in reply, Nick Dodds taking 4-69.

Warenford coasted to a 10-wicket success at Hebburn.

The hosts were bowled out for 127 before openers Daniel Patterson (64 not out) and Brian Thompson (49 not out) took Warenford to 131-0 off only 18 overs.

Blagdon Park Seconds XI fell to the bottom of the table after losing by 36 runs at home against Civil Service.
