A Black day for Lintz as Lewis strikes

WHICKHAM won the toss and decided to bat first against Lintz in the Northumber­land and Tyneside Senior League’s Under-18 Division.

They amassed 162-5, skipper Scott Richardson making 41.

In reply, Lintz struggled to 76-7, Adam Donaldson top scorer with 11 – with 26 of their runs coming from extras.

Lewis Black returned 3-15 in his spell of bowling.

Lanchester entertaine­d Blaydon and decided to bat first, making 127 all out with Owen Shield scoring 46.

There was great bowling from Ben Lamb (4-30) and Paul McCarthy Jnr (3-34).

When Blaydon batted, they mustered only 87-7, Paul McCarthy Jnr hitting 43 and Arran Halliday and David Barnett each taking two wickets. ■■WHITBURN scored a healthy 139-5 at Boldon – but it was not enough to win their Division One game in the Durham Cricket Board Under-18 League.

Elliott Hearn struck 42 not out and Ben Markham added 33, Kyle Groombridg­e taking 2-28.

Boldon then won with an over to spare, posting 140-2 with Joseph Foster smashing 73 not out and Frankie Kilner adding 35 not out in a 91-run partnershi­p.

Chester-le-Street beat visitors South Shields in a run fest at Ropery Lane.

The home side batted first and Scott Robson struck 37 before Josh O’Brien smashed 82 not out off 59 balls, including four fours and seven sixes. The pair put on 85 runs for the first wicket in a total of 160-3.

South Shields registered 131-4 in reply, Luke Elliott scoring a fine 70 and Eliott Campbell contributi­ng 31 not out.

Sacriston made just 98-9 in their home match with Peterlee.

Benjamin Jackson hit 33 late on in the innings, Ellis Dunn returning a splendid 5-18 off his four overs.

Peterlee made light work of the target, posting 100-2 with 2.3 overs to spare – Joseph Spalding hitting 41.

Langley Park entertaine­d Mainsforth in the South West Division, won the toss and put the visitors in to bat.

They made 148-5, Ryan Dawson cracking 57 not out and Zak Strange 31. Langley knocked off the runs with 10 balls to spare – Craig Williams hitting 39.
