So close but victory sealed by Sacriston

SACRISTON just gained the better of Washington by five runs in Division One.

Sacriston scored 106-5, Benjamin Jackson making 34 and Matthew Clements claiming 3-24.

Washington’s score of 101-7 was just short of target despite 36 from Sammy Singh Rai.

In Division Two, Hetton Lyons batted first at Eppleton and amassed 75-7, Josh Bell the top scorer with 19.

Jake Pratt was excellent with the ball, taking 3-8 off his four overs, and Josh Hutchinson backed him up with 2-11.

Eppleton then reached their target off 17 overs, Pratt scoring 37 not out and Hollie Forsyth adding 26 not out – Ella Tomys taking 2-13 – in a total of 78-3.

Murton hosted Whitburn and the visitors totalled just 59 off 16.3 overs.

The home side cantered home in eight overs, scoring 61-2.

Gateshead Fell welcomed Easington in Division Three and Easington won the toss and decided to bat.

They made a healthy 132-5, Joe Linton scoring 35 and Jake Allman hitting 51 not out.

In reply, Easington reached only 68-9, giving Fell an easy win – Lucas Shaw the pick of the bowlers in returning 2-1.

Felling only posted 80-8 against Burnmoor and Kristian Jefferson then scored 53 not out in their reply of 83-0.

HETTON Lyons had captain Callan Salkeld to thank for taking his team to the final of the County Cup.

He scored 35 in their total of 90-6 against South Shields.

Against tight Lyons bowling, Shields could only manage 80-7 in their reply.

CHESTER-le-Street welcomed Hetton Lyons in Group B of the League Shield and won the toss and batted.

They made 199-6 thanks to an unbeaten 86 from James Hindmarsh.

Miles Birbeck struck 100 not out and Jack Hutchinson chipped in with 45 – but the Lyons fell three runs short on 196-5.
