Adam takes decider to snatch title

-

BOLDON’S Adam Parker battled his way through an 18-strong field at Whitley Bay Snooker Centre’s one-day handicapped Pro-Am event before edging out former winner Craig Sexton in the final.

Parker won with a mixture of middle of the road breaks, plus some good tactical safety play (off 7).

Having reached the latter stages of several previous events without any great deal of success, it was the determined Parker – who was conceding two blacks a frame start – who had to pull out all the stops before scraping home 3-2 in the decider against the disappointed North Shields player.

Parker’s hard-fought efforts earned him the £80 first prize, leaving Sexton with a nice little consolation reward of £50 for being the beaten finalist.

In the semi-final play-offs Parker came home 3-1 against local potter Tim Taylor (£15), while Sexton was registering the same winning scoreline over Gateshead’s previous winner and scratch player Brandon Hall (£15).

Whitley’s David Mole picked up the £10 highest break award with a nice little run of 60.

Durham’s scratch potter Quid Masawin collected the Plate winner’s £20 following a final 2-1 defeat of Brandon Crawford. ■■The next evening of Snooker entertainment at Whitley Bay Snooker Centre gets under way at 7.30pm on Thursday, July 27 and features the former world No 3 Stephen Lee (below).
