Big knock is a real Phillip for the Sage

SAGE were again in the runs in Division Two, amassing 177-4 against Whitley Bay thanks to an aggressive 69 from Michael Phillips.

Andy Beer hit 36 and Andy Ebdale 41.

Bay in reply started well, Niall Piper stroking 41, but faltered to 104 all out with young bowler Harry Clark taking 3-17 and Alfie Clark 2-16.

Andy Ebdale completed the job with 2-6 off two overs.

A feature of the game was a superb catch at long on by Niall Piper, who immediatel­y threw the ball on to Chris Dunn before crossing the boundary.

Kilo Akram registered 5-18 for West End who dismissed Mitford for 80 having posted a target of 142-6, of which Waqas made 44.

There were three games played in Division Four.

In a father-and-son opening partnershi­p for Tynemouth Bad Boys, young Joe Snowdon (17) bettering his dad Rouven as Tynemouth totalled 69-4 to beat Oddfellows’ 65 all out.

Joe also took 2-8 off two overs and Richie Hay 2-4 off three overs.

City Sharks amassed 175-6, with Rajiv Sewsarran contributi­ng 54 and R Shen taking 3-41, to beat Marsden, who were 65 all out.

Mann scored 29 and Amaan Ul Haq took 4-27.

Playing at home to Parkhouse, Matfen managed only 62-8 with Tony Gilchrist taking 3-22, Chris Milburn 2-2 and Keith Reader 2-2 - including a wicket maiden.

Parkhouse won by nine wickets with Danny Gilchrist 45 not out.

In the Just Sport Cup, Boxbreaker­s scored 147-7 with Tony Wilson hitting 64 and Xohaib Shahid 42 - despite Shahnawaz Awan taking 4-30 to beat Blue Flames.

Flames went close in an exciting contest to lose by only six runs with 141-8 based on 58 not out by Mohsin.

Boxbreaker­s head to High Stables in the quarter-finals.

In the Paddlers Plate, Sage showed their batting strength with Adrian Woodward recording 52 and Michael Phillips 48 out of 153-7, S Devon taking 4-30.

They beat Cramlingto­n, who ended on 98-5 with Davison scoring 44 and S Lighley taking 3-26. Sage await the outcome of the Northern Rangers-CCC tie.
