Yedlin promises a warm welcome for new guys in Toon

- By LEE RYDER

DEANDRE Yedlin feels Newcastle United’s new signings could not have picked a better club as far as togetherness and unity is concerned.

The right-back now has extra competition with former Sunderland full-back Javier Manquillo the next new face through the door at United.

Spaniard Manquillo will join the camp along with Jacob Murphy in a whirlwind 24 hours for the Magpies on the recruitment front.

Yedlin said: “It is a continuation of last year in terms of togetherness.

“As far as that is concerned it is the best togetherness I have had at a team.

“Whoever is new and comes in we welcome them and they will be part of the group as well.”

Yedlin has not stopped working over the summer and was in great form during training with some electrifying sprints during practice games.

He added: “It has been an interesting off-season.

“I had World Cup qualifiers right in the middle and it has been interesting trying to balance my time.

“I think I have managed well. Now it is good to be back.”

Yedlin is enjoying the club’s weeklong stint in Ireland and said: “It has been great.

“There are great facilities here and the weather has been good.

“It is everything you could ask for in pre-season.

“It is always a challenge in football, even in the Championship.

“We are ready and excited and have had a good break.”
