Has Liam tied the knot with Cheryl in secret wedding?
ONE DIRECTION SINGER CALLS CHERYL HIS ‘WIFE’
Reporter GEORDIE singer Cheryl Tweedy has been described as his “wife” by former One Direction star Liam Payne.
The couple, who have a son together, are loved up after the birth of baby Bear.
He reportedly used the word in an interview with a French website On The Move in which he hints they are more than boyfriend and girlfriend.
But Liam’s use of the word “wife” has triggered speculation they have had a secret wedding.
Liam, who is thought to be worth at least £54 million after he made his fortune touring the world with One Direction, describes being a new dad and talks about songwriting when he drops the “w” bomb.
He said: “To be honest with you I don’t know yet what it is like to write while being a father, I have not passed through this experience.
“I have something that I’m preparing with Timbaland and I was writing with Pharrell when his wife was pregnant along with my wife for that matter.
“They had triplets and it’s amazing. I will change my approach and my way of writing because it is these experiences of life that make you a better composer.”
It is not known if Liam used the word “wife” in the legal sense and neither he, nor Cheryl, have mentioned marriage.
But she has told her 6.3 million followers on Twitter: “Living in a love bubble.”
And she told fans after her 34th birthday on June 30th: “Thank you so much for all of my lovely birthday wishes. I have had the best day/night, Love you all lots.”
Cheryl has already married twice before - to footballer Ashley Cole in 2006 and Jean-Bernard FernandezVersini in 2014. She was granted a decree nisi from the latter in October.
Cheryl hasn’t been seen in public since giving birth although she has shared a selfie showing her journey from pop star to doting mother.
Talking to French music channel Just Music, Liam spoke about how him and Cheryl want to raise their son: “We are very lucky and we will raise him to know we’ve worked hard to have these nice things.” Liam added he loves being a dad. “I discover him every day and I see his eyes brighten when I talk to him. He always looks at me with great attention and he often tries to imitate me by moving his mouth,” he said.
“I’m happy to be a dad, it’s an incredible thing. I give my son as much love as I have received from my parents.
“I also have an incredible girlfriend, she’s a great mum and I could not have been happier to have her as the mother of my child.”
Last week, the singer showed he still knows how to get a crowd going.
The former One Direction star got his fans particularly riled up when he took to the stage topless in Paris.
And the 23-year-old may be a dad now, but that doesn’t mean he’s got a dad body.
The singer delighted the crowd by performing debut solo single, Strip That Down, before doing an on-stage interview with Virgin Radio France.
Flanked by gorgeous dancers, Liam encouraged fans to sing along as he danced to the track.
During his interview, Liam was asked for his favourite memory since appearing on X Factor back in 2010.
He said: “The birth of my son has been the most amazing thing that I’ve been involved with so far, but I have to say playing stadiums around the world and going out with you guys, thank you so much for everything you do for us.”
Liam hinted at a new track with Charlie Puth and told fans his debut solo album is coming soon.
