Tournament proves to be real success
Valley Gardens event attracts more than 500 players
NORTH East Youth (formally Northumberland Clubs for Young People) held their 33rd annual Soccer Sixes tournament, sponsored by British Engines, at Valley Gardens Middle School in Whitley Bay.
The competiiton was run in partnership with Whitley Bay Sporting Club.
Whitley Bay Blues triumphed in the under-11 event, with Whitley Bay Porto runners-up, and also claimed the Fair Play Award.
At under-12 level, Heaton Hawks Juniors Yellows were the winners with Whitley Bay in second place.
The Fair Play Award went to North Shields East End Youth and Community Centre.
Montagu and North Fenham were crowned under-13 champions ahead of Whitley Bay Sporting Club Blues.
The Blues lifted the Fair Play Award.
Red House Elite took the under-14 honous with Whitley Bay Sporting Club Blues second.
In the under-15 competition there was a one-two for Whitley Bay Sporting Club.
Montagu and North Fenham sealed the Fair Play Award.

“More than 500 players and a huge amount of spectators contributed to a very successful fun-filled day.
“The attitudes of the players and the quality of football on display were very good and everyone enjoyed a great time.
“I would like to thank sponsor British Engines and Planet Sports and Trophies who sponsored the Fair Play Awards.
“Also all the volunteers of Whitley Bay Sporting Club and NE Youth, who work incredibly hard over the day and in the lead-up to the tournament.
“Without them this event just would not be possible.”
