Lyons Miles ahead in win over Ryhope

HETTON Lyons won the Durham Cricket Board Under-15 Division One title after another success at Ryhope.

The Lyons batted first and made 127-3, mainly thanks to 50 not out from Tom Lawson.

Ryhope were in trouble immediatel­y, Miles Birbeck taking early wickets (4-13), and they never recovered - managing just 79 all out with top scorer Shanwin James leading the way with 25.

Chester-le-Street finished runners-up after a comfortabl­e home win over Ryhope.

The Cestrians batted first and reached 148-2 thanks to Ollie Barrett (50 not out) and Matthew Ward (53 not out), Shanwin James returning figures of 2-34.

Ryhope could only muster 62-6 in their reply, Joseph Defty the leading scorer with 26 and Harry Days taking 2-2.

Durham City conceded their home game with Hetton Lyons, as did Washington with their fixture at South Shields.

Castle Eden claimed the Division Two title, Boldon second after defeating Sunderland.

Home side Boldon reached 163-6 with openers Frankie Kilner (39) and Daniel Wales (51 not out) making the majority of the runs.

Sunderland then battled their way to 99-7.

Eppleton lost the toss and were inserted by visitors Peterlee and made just 40.

Excellent bowling from Jack Spalding (3-9) and Samuel Carr (3-6) did the damage.

Peterlee knocked off the runs (41-2) in 8.2 overs.

Marsden welcomed Murton and won the toss and the visitors were put into bat.

They posted 122-3, thanks to 50 not out from Josh Greenfield and 34 from Liam Potts.

Marsden knocked off the required runs (123-3) through Owen Amess, who made 47, and Corey Johns ,who struck 41, off 19.2 overs.

Gateshead Fell were Division Three winners, having remained unbeaten in their six matches. ■■CONSETT hosted Lanchester in the Northumber­land and Tyneside Senior League’s Under-15 League and asked them to bat first.

Lanchester amassed 82-5, Daniel Arthur top-scoring with 19.

In reply, Consett were just seven runs short, finishing on 75-9, Aaron Telford scoring 31.
