- By MARK CARRUTHERS

JARROW Roofing joint-manager Mark Collingwood believes a poor spell left his side with “a mountain to climb” when they were beaten at home by Shildon.

A brace from Adam Burnicle and a Matty Robson goal gave the Railwaymen a three-goal lead at the interval.

Dan Kirkup pulled two goals back for the Roofers but they could not find an equaliser - and Collingwood believes his side had too much to do.

He said: “A 10-minute period before half-time cost us because we switched off and they scored goals in that period.

“That was a mountain to climb in the second half.”

A John Campbell hat-trick helped Newcastle Benfield to an impressive 7-3 victory over managerless Bishop Auckland.

Benfield boss Mark Convery said “First half, every coaching manual went out of the window, it made no sense what happened.
