-

SAGE Gateshead and 44 Events are joining forces to take locals on a culinary journey with their first ‘Let’s Travel the World’ international street food festival.

The event, which will be held from September 22-24, will see Sage Gateshead’s iconic building transformed into an international hub of food and entertainment.

It will welcome more than 50 vendors to showcase food for all ages and tastes from across the globe.

In addition to the food stalls, there will be a pop-up cinema showing a world premier animation, a mini American diner, and an English country garden. Entertainment will include live music, DJs, masterclasses, inspirational talks, food passports, and a host of experiences for youngsters adventurous enough to try new dishes.

This joint venture with Sage Gateshead will be the largest Street Food event to date created by 44 Events who have gained fame in Newcastle for its food fight events, including The Battle of the Burger, Argie Bhaji & Thai Kwondo. The events will run until late each night, with the days ending in a musical fiesta. Anna Eyres, Head of Conference and Events at Sage Gateshead, said: “We are very excited to be working with 44 Events on the ‘Let’s Travel the World’ international street food festival. “This is the first time Sage Gateshead has done anything like this, and we are delighted to be mixing great food with world-class entertainment.

With between 50 and 60 diverse traders representing flavours from across the world. We’ve been running food-themed events for a long time though, so we’re very excited to be taking this next step.

“Every day will be different, with plenty of choices for anyone from the pickiest eater to the most discerning connoisseur, lots to see and do, and entertainment for all ages. Sage Gateshead is the perfect venue for the festival, because we will have scope to transform it into a travel experience, right here on the Quayside.”
