Win’s a Walk in the park for Jesmond

PREMIER Division side Jesmond Parish Church top Group A of the Andy Walker Trophy after defeating Division One outfit Mopeth Mighty Oaks 3-1.

Jake Newstead opened the scoring for Morpeth after 35 minutes and doubled their advantage on 50 minutes.

Blaine Evans made the score 3-0 with a quarter of the match left before Anthony Henderson claimed a consolatio­n goal at the death.

Consett Saint Patrick’s romped to a 10-0 success against North Yorkshire’s Saint Cuthbert’s Corinthian­s Colburn in Group B.

Colin Wheatley netted a hattrick, double scorers were Rob Lavery, Paul Mc Bride and Adam McVickers and Tom Lavery completed the scoring.

In Group C, league new boys Stockton Salvation Army lost 8-0 at Division One rivals Heaton Saints.

A goal within five minutes from Phil Russell put Saints on their way and Jamie Holmes made the score 2-0 at the break.

In the second period Heaton Saints hit six unanswered counters, Russell bagging another two for his hat-trick and Paul Armstrong, Ryan Creighton, Matthew Haigh and Jonathan Wright also on target.

Jubilee Church Teesside played Hillsong Newcastle in Group D with the first half goalless.

Amin Kashy got Hillsong off the mark on the restart, Jay Sutter and Nathan McDine also grabbing goals to give Division One side Hillsong a 3-0 verdict.

City of God Church Walker Newcastle had to switch their home match to opponents Saint Paul’s Ryhope.

It took last season’s leading goalscorer Kieran Davies just five minutes to score and he nabbed a hat-trick in the first half as Saints went 3-0 up at the break.

Daniel Armstrong netted twice to increase the lead to 5-0, Tyler Davis then making it 6-0 before City of God registered a consolatio­n courtesy of Dakwak Rwang.

In Group E, two teams relegated from the Premier Division were drawn together as Saint Charles RC Gosforth faced Saint Johns Snod’s Edge.

Saint Charles triumphed 2-0 thanks to efforts from Tom Martin and Alex Lunn.
