Traffic & travel update

BY CAR: There are narrow lanes and a speed restriction of 30mph at Silverlink, North Tyneside. The A189 Killingworth Road is closed between West Farm Avenue and A191 Benton Park Road due to work to widen road and replace bridge. BY BUS: John Reid Road, Jarrow, will be closed westbound between Whiteleas Way and Chesterton Road on Friday. Stagecoach bus 3 will run as normal from South Shields via Boldon Lane to the John Reid Road Roundabout, continue along Whiteleas Way, right into Galsworthy Road, right on to Chesterton Road and left into Sheridan Road where it will return to normal route.

Service Q1 towards Gateshead and service Q2 from Gateshead will not serve Jackson Street, Gateshead High Street or Arthur Street until September 1. These buses will be diverted between Prince Consort Road and Gateshead Interchange, via Charles Street.

Chester Road, Shiney Row, will be closed between Golf Course Road and Shiney Row roundabout from 8am to 6pm today and tomorrow to allow resurfacing works.

GNE services 4 and 78 will divert via Golf Course Road, Success Road and A182 Philadelphia Lane in both directions, omitting Chester Road. GNE service 238 will operate direct via A182 Philadelphia Lane and will be unable to serve Chester Road (from Golf Course Road to Shiney Row roundabout), Golf Course Road and Success Road. In order to maintain links for passengers, Services 4 and 78 will observe stops on Success Road. They will observe the first stop on Golf Course Road when heading towards Shiney Row and the first stop on Philadelphia Lane when travelling towards Bournmoor. Nexus (Gateshead Central Taxis) service 37 will divert from Shiney Row via A183, left at roundabout to Biddick Woods then return via A183. As a result Service 37 will not be able to serve its stops on Chester Road. BY METRO: No trains between South Gosforth and Shiremoor until September 3. Replacement buses will serve all stations in the affected area. BY TRAIN: No expected disruption.
