THREE young golfers have qualfiied for the Wee Wonders Final at St Andrews this weekend.

Benjamin Miller, six, Morgan Bailey, nine, and her sister Miley Lister, eight, fought their way through two rounds of qualifying to play at the home of golf.

The final will be held over three rounds at the famous Scottish club’s Balgrove Course.

All three youngsters are part of Beamish Park Hotel’s Golf Academy run by PGA profession­al Mark Rayson. ■■BENWELL HIll meet Tynemouth in the Bobby Smithson Northumber­land County Cup final at South Northumber­land CC on Sunday (4.00).

The match will be preceded by the Northumber­land County Plate decider between Newcastle City and Tynedale (1.00). ■■TOM CANT’S unbeaten 99 steered Tynedale to an eightwicke­t win over Cowgate in the Smithson Cup - Cowgate 169-4, Tynedale 173-2. ■■GARY HUMSBY won Seahouses Golf Club’s Alistair Mallen Memorial Trophy (68-2=66) ahead of Ed McLoughlin (82-13=69) and Scott Priestley (71-2=69). ■■NEWCASTLE United defeated Slaley Hall 3.5/1.5 to win the Hadrian Golf League’s Davison Cup at Seahouses GC. ■■NEWCASTLE’s Josh Phillipe hit an unbeaten 162 to steer his side to a 31-run victory over Benwell Hill in the final of the Dukes NEPL Salver.

Newcastle amassed 284-8, the Hill replying bravely with 253. ■■KAMRAN Mansoor struck 124 as the Northumber­land and Tyneside Senior League beat the North Yorkshire and South Durham League by 49 runs in the final of the North East InterLeagu­e Championsh­ip.

The NTSL made 223-9, the NYSD League 174 in response. ■■WALLSEND potter Elliot Slessor (right) lost 5-3 to Scot Alan McManus in the first round of the Evergrande China Snooker Championsh­ip. ■■NORTH Tyneside biker Billy Bolt has been crowned British Extreme Enduro champion after success at the competitio­n’s latest round, the H20 Extreme Classic.

Ties are Killingwor­th YPC v The Tavern Blyth, Newcastle Dynamo Fenham v Rothbury, Monkseaton v New Fordley and Stobswood Welfare v Amble St Cuthbert’s.
