Hex make it hard going for the Killi

KILLINGWOR­TH YPC won the Second Division at a canter last season and have already opened a five-point gap at the top of Division One.

However, they were made to work hard for their latest win at home to Hexham, finally triumphing 6-4.

Malcolm Morien took his earlyseaso­n tally to seven with a brace and he was joined by Robert Nolan, Tom Wood, Paul King and Joe Besford on the scoresheet.

Hexham replied through doubles from Kurtis Harvey and Robbie Pattison.

Both Wallsend Community and Newcastle Chemfica enjoyed big victories to move up to second and third respective­ly.

The Wallsend side came from behind at the interval at Cullercoat­s to prevail 6-1.

Alan O’Donnell gave the hosts an interval lead.

However, the visitors were level through Kane Chirnside minutes into the second half before strikes from Sean Conway and Declan King extended Community’s advantage.

Ryan Ferrier struck a hat-trick between the 70th and 80th minutes.

At Chemfica nine goals were scored, the hosts inflicting an 8-1 defeat on Hebburn Reyrolle.

Steve McLaughlin netted twice in each half to register a four-goal haul while Fergus Lynch added a brace and Josh Grice and Jozef Mazela the others - David Stansfield notching a consolatio­n.

Red Row Welfare jumped up to fifth with a comfortabl­e 5-1 home success over Cramlingto­n Town.

Max Anderson claimed his first counters of the campaign, notching three times with three finishes from Darren Smith and Josh Baston after Dean McCarthy had opened the scoring early on.

New Fordley were also among the goals when they prevailed 6-1 at Seaton Burn.

Jak Morris and and Darren Walsh bagged braces.

Felling Magpies defeated visitors Wallsend Boys Club 2-1, Anthony Kew notching the winner, and the game between Gosforth Bohemians and Monkseaton finished 1-1. ■■NORTH Shields Athletic and Ponteland United scored four each on the road in the Premier Division, the former winning 4-2 at Wallington and the latter 4-0 at Whitley Bay A.

Last seasons’ Division One champions Gateshead A are yet to register a point in the top flight and lost for the fifth straight game - 2-0 to Gateshead Rutherford.
