SET SAIL FOR TV NOSTALGIA

PLAYSCHOOL’S Floella Benjamin, Blue Peter’s Peter Purves and Magpie’s Mick Robertson will be sailing on a cruise to the Canaries in October aboard Cruise & Maritime Voyages’ flagship, Columbus.

The trio, who were famous TV faces for people who grew up in the 1970s, will be taking part in lectures, talks, and meet-and-greets on the 15-night cruise.

The Childhood TV Legends cruise takes passengers to Madeira, Lanzarote, Tenerife and Gran Canaria, together with Amsterdam, Gibraltar and Lisbon. Departure from Tilbury is on October 14.

BEACH BLOCKBUSTE­RS

A SURVEY conducted by beach holiday specialist On the Beach has revealed Mamma Mia!, the 2008 blockbuste­r starring Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan (pictured), with Colin Firth and Julie Walters, as the nation’s favourite beach holiday film, with more than a third of the vote.

The movie, which was filmed in London and on the Greek island of Skopelos, gained a whopping 34% of the vote from the 1,000 people surveyed. Danny Boyle’s The Beach, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, came second.
