BEST OF THE REST
GOGGLEBOX
Channel 4, 9pm THIS is series 10, you guys. Yep, the show that when it started everyone went “You what? Watching people watching telly, on our tellies?” But those reservations were cast aside, as we fell in love with the likes of Leon and June, Chris and Steve, and the Sidduiqis.
That was four and a half years ago, and since then it’s gone on to pick up BAFTAs and National Television Awards, not to mention millions of viewers. And it’s made stars of many of the couch-dwellers, most notably jungle-conquering Scarlet Moffatt. And, the thing is, it’s still great. They slot new cast members in each series, alongside the likes of the Malones and their many dogs, or OAPs Mary and Marina from Bristol.
MISTER WINNER
BBC1, 10.35pm THERE’S a hint of Miranda to this comedy pilot, which is unsurprising when the hero of the piece is a well-meaning but hapless chap, prone to accidents and landing himself in unusual and often somewhat dangerous situations.
Comedian Spencer Jones is the eponymous Mr Leslie Winner, who is planning on proposing to his girlfriend Jemma. Unfortunately he hasn’t quite twigged that – even though she loves him and he makes her laugh – Jemma is actually wondering if Leslie is serious and grown-up enough, or if she should call things off.
Also guest starring Romesh Ranganathan, this daft, gentle and funny half hour has been written by Hospital People creator Matt Morgan.
