Blyth praying clash will not become a Chor

- By JEFF BOWRON

BLYTH Spartans go in search of a fourth straight win when they take on another in-form side Chorley at Croft Park tonight.

It is the middle game of three on home soil this week, Armstrong pleased to give the home fans something to shout about on Saturday.

He said: “Results at Croft Park had been disappointing so it was good to show our home fans what we are capable of against Boston.

“We have scored freely on our travels and it was only a matter of time before we did so at home.

“We are an attack-minded side and it was good to score five goals against Boston, though we still managed to let two in.

“We are on a good run but so are Chorley - so it should be a good game between two in-form sides.”

Chorley are looking to complete a North East treble, having beaten both Darlington and York City during their three-match winning run.

The Magpies, unbeaten in five games where they have conceded just one goal, are managed by former Crystal Palace and Blackburn striker Matt Jansen.

With on-loan striker Macaulay Langstaff returning to Gateshead, teenager Jack Butler is set to be on the Spartans’ bench.

Armstrong added: “We have had a few injuries.

“Those not in the side have had to be patient but when they have come in they have done brilliantly.

“Chorley will be our stiffest test for a while. They play more football than many of the sides in the division, which will suit us.

“It will be a tough season but I have told the lads to just go out and enjoy it.”
