CLOSET CONFIDENTIAL

ELECTRONIC ARTIST AND COMPOSER HANNAH PEEL TALKS SILVER STYLE

- BY MARION McMULLEN

What are you wearing at the moment?

I’m about to speak on a panel so am suitably dressed in a RüH Collective black tie top, black jeans and black glitter boots.

Who’s your style icon?

I’m a big fan of tailored 60s outfits, catsuits and spy costumes plus I love silver. I’m no relation but Emma Peel from The Avengers, played by Diana Rigg, is my icon. But, if I could pull off the cleavage and legs, I’d love to be reborn as Jane Fonda’s Barbarella.

What item of clothing do you spend the most on?

I’m a fussy shopper and pretty obsessed with coats, jackets and glasses over items I actually need.

What is your favourite piece of clothing in your wardrobe?

Longshaw Ward’s sequin shirt and trousers.

What is the most expensive item in your wardrobe?

My cat eye glasses. The white screwless IC Berlin glasses were worth every penny.

What has been your biggest fashion disaster?

Wearing sandals on stage. No one wants to see your feet when playing music.

Who is your favourite designer?

Georgia Hardinge. Her sculptured angles and pleats on a growing range of clothing is stunning. My favourite is the metallic bomber.

Which is your favourite high street store?

And Other Stories is great for everything.

What is your top style tip?

When performing don’t be shy. Go for the full sequinned space jumpsuit.

Hannah Peel (hannahpeel.com) will be performing her album Mary Casio: Journey To Cassiopeia as part of live dates with Tubular Brass (tubularbrass.com). They are playing Mike Oldfield’s classic album Tubular Bells live.
