Steven Alice Lee: “In China they actually have high speed trains that run on time, build five new subway lines in five years in a city around the size of London and are talking about testing trains with a theoretical max speed of 4000kmph (yes 4000), meanwhile in the north we have to shut down a major section of the metro for months to fix it up, and we don’t even get trolley service on Virgin trains anymore.”

Matthew Wilkinson: “If its run anything like the trains at the minute you’ll still turn up three hours late and pay extortionate amounts for the privilege.”

Micheal James: “It’s taking 3 years to get rid of a roundabout at Silverlink. Using that as a scale to compare it against, this is unlikely to happen in my kids life time!”

Tom Purvis: “The rest of the world will get something like this in 5 or so years, we’ll get it in the year 2167.”

Tom Crawley: “And when it breaks down you’ve got to get the 5 hour bus replacement.”

David Chow: “Be amazing to see this happen. Open whole new world for employment for people of the North East.”

Brian Olds: “We’ve been waiting 30+ years in Washington for the metro.”

Carmen Quinn: “They need to concentrate on the transport they have already got and spend some money on the A1 north to make traffic easier.”
