MUST-SEE SHOWS
EVEN BETTER THAN THE REAL THING Tonight, BBC1, 7pm
IF you have fond memories of Stars in Their Eyes – or any memories of the BBC’s previous tribute act competition, The One and Only – this quirky talent show could be for you.
A celebration of the biggest names and tracks in pop music, it sees Paddy McGuinness introducing some of the world’s best tribute acts, who perform as artists including Amy Winehouse and George Michael, left.
SPEED WITH GUY MARTIN: F1 CHALLENGE Tomorrow, Channel 4, 8pm
IN theory, if anyone can cut it as a Formula 1 pit crew member, it’s motorcycle racer, lorry mechanic and speed demon Guy Martin.
However, even for someone with his qualifications, it’s a tough job – these elite workers must change four tyres in just 1.92 seconds. Cameras follow Guy as he works with the pit crew at the recent 2017 Belgian Grand Prix, and tries to master the split-second timing needed.
But how will he cope with changing tyres for F1 veteran Felipe Massa?
W1A Monday, BBC2, regions vary
FOR a while, it seemed that we had seen the last of Ian Fletcher and his Head of Values team. For two years we’ve been without their hapless machinations brightening up our screens – had bosses at the Beeb decided that the mockumentary’s antics made them look foolish? Perish the thought! Thankfully it seems they do have a sense of humour and are happy to poke fun at themselves because the sitcom is back for a third series this week.
Once again Hugh Bonneville plays the nice but mostly completely ineffective Ian, who must find a way of making the BBC’s new mantra of ‘doing more of less’ work.
As ever, he is assisted – or more often than not hampered – by a motley group of individuals played by Sarah Parish, Jessica Hynes, Jason Watkins, Hugh Skinner and Nina Sosanya.
