Ten-goal Demi too good for Terminus
CM FLOORING CONSETT SUNDAY LEAGUE
CONSETT Demi hit double figures as they breezed into the next round of the Durham FA Sunday Cup.
To book their place in the third preliminary round of the competition, they defeated guests Sunderland The Terminus 10-3.
They will be joined in the draw by four fellow league teams, Division Two side East Stanley Masons edging out Crookhall Beck 3-2.
South Moor Sports defeated Easington Colliery Club Mechanics 3-2, Consett Scotch Arms put five without reply past Stillington Royal Oak and Oxhill Central were 5-3 victors Coundon Miners Arms.
Division Two sides Consett Snooker Club (4-2 v Greatham Bull and Dog) and Stanley RAFA (2-1 v Sunderland Board Inn) were eliminated, as were Division Three side High Handenhold Bird Inn (3-1 v West Auckland Club).
A double from Ryan Cowan earned Winlaton Highlander all three points in Division One.
Cowan’s goals took them to a 2-0 victory over Consett Cricketers Ex-Juniors, earning them at their second win of the league campaign.
Castleside Horse and Groom and Consett Top Club picked up their first points as they shared four goals - Jon Horobin and Andrew Whitfield on target for Groom with Michael Bell and Jack James netting for Top Club.
Thirteen goals were scored in the Consett Station WMC- Craghead Legion game in Division Two, guests Craghead taking all three points.
They edged their way to a narrow 7-6 triumph, Chris Woods and Liam Ridley both scoring twice and Jamie Armstrong, Kelvin Armstrong and Stephen Burrows seeing them to glory.
Station were unfortunate to end the game empty-handed as Michael Toomer and John Innes bagged braces, Keegan Thompson and Connor Renwick also netting.
Winlaton Crown and Cannon hit top form as they returned from Burnopfield Sun Inn with an 8-1 victory.
Michael Dodds scored four, Paul Newton-Eddy three and Callum Carter one, Stephen Dewhurst hitting Sun’s consolation.
