Car parts firm’s rebranding a hit

-

THE long-term future of a North East car parts manufacturer has been cemented following a rebranding exercise by its parent company.

Peterlee-based Mecaplast has grown significantly since first opening in County Durham 20 years ago, building up a customer base which includes the likes of Jaguar Landrover, Toyota, Renault and BMW. Now the firm is set to grow further, following a rebranding exercise to create a new company name, Novares.

The firm’s French owners Mecaplast Group merged with US firm Key Plastics earlier this year and the new name for the combined companies has been created to reflect the evolution and new ambition set for the company, ensuring growth for the future.

The merger and the rebrand will help to ensure the long-term future of the Peterlee site, where 140 people are employed, as well as aid continued investment and job creation.

Plant manager David Cann said: “As a plant we have undergone significant growth in the last few years and the merger with Key Plastics, and subsequent rebrand as Novares, represents the next phase of the group’s development journey.

“As Novares, we have a forward-thinking brand which will put us in the strongest possible position to expand globally. And of course, for the Peterlee plant, that will guarantee our future as well as our longterm growth in capital infrastructure and personnel.”

Novares CEO Pierre Boulet said: “It is a very exciting time for us all.

“We have repositioned ourselves using our strengths in a more proactive way to capture market opportunities and to meet the demands of our customers. We have become one united, international team and are excited about our prospective future.”
