Sharpen your pencils, the Big Draw’s back to fulfill your artistic side

-

IF IT’S October – then it has to be time for The Big Draw Festival, aimed at anyone who loves to draw, as well as those who think they can’t! Each year, throughout the month of October, there are thousands of fun and experimental drawing activities to connect people of all ages with schools, galleries, museums, libraries, heritage sites, village halls, refugee organisations and outdoor spaces – all sorts of places in fact. And lots of interesting people, from artists to designers, illustrators to scientists and inventors will be getting involved. Some famous faces who have supported past events include award-winning author Philip Pullman, Children’s Laureate Chris Riddell, illustrator Sir Quentin Blake, but anyone can take part. This year’s theme is Living Lines: An Animated Big Draw Festival.

Kate Mason, director of The Big Draw says: “For 31 days in over 25 countries, Living Lines: An Animated Big Draw Festival will bring together hundreds of thousands of people to learn, experiment and bring ideas to life through drawing and animation.

“From the earliest days with pre-film animation devices such as Zoetropes, to the most cutting edge digital drawing and animation technologies, there is a long history of people finding ways to create moving images.”

There are lots of events across the UK, so to find out more about the Festival and what’s happening near you, visit thebigdraw.org
