Three-sy does it as Seasiders go on in Vase

- By MARK CARRUTHERS

WHITLEY Bay eased into the first round of the FA Vase with a comfortable 3-0 win over Billingham Synthonia.

The two sides shared four goals in the original fixture on Saturday, but the Bay made no mistake in the replay at Hillheads.

A Tom Potter penalty in the 15th minute got Marc Nash’s side off to a perfect start, although they had to wait until five minutes into the second-half for their second.

Jack Walker was the man that doubled the lead, as the full-back scored his first goal for the Seahorses since returning to the club from West Auckland Town two weeks ago.

Matthew Cornish extended the lead to three with just over 23 minutes left and that was enough to set up an away tie at Humber Premier League club Westella and Willerby.

Northern League Division One leaders Morpeth Town were frustrated in their efforts to extend their lead at the top of the division.

Former Washington duo Joe Walton and Mark Davison put The Highwaymen two goals up at Sunderland RCA, only for the match officials to abandon the game due to heavy fog.

Consett looked to have taken all three points in their home game against Ryhope CW, only to be denied by a late goal.

The Steelmen were trailing to an early strike from Josh HomeJackson (inset), but turned it around thanks to goals from Daniel Craggs and Jordan Lavery.

However, a Joe Melvin goal secured a point for the Wearside outfit.

Northallerton Town moved within two points of Division Two leaders Tow Law Town with a comprehensive 3-0 win against Billingham Town.

First-half goals from Elliot McGlade and Nick Martin and a second-half strike from Liam Jarvie gave them a deserved win.

Elsewhere, Thornaby had to settle for a point in their 0-0 draw with Ryton and Crawcrook Albion, despite dominating the play for large parts of the game.
