They registered 6-0 victories over Heaton Hawks Kestrels, Montagu and North Fenham Reds and Newcastle East End respectively. ■■WIDEOPEN and District Wanderers edged out Walker Central Whites 4-3 in the first round of the Under-13 Shiremoor Press Boys’ Cup.
Blyth Spartans Greens won by the same margin against Tynemouth United Yellows, as did Newcastle West End at Ellington. ■■ASHINGTON beat Tynemouth United Blues 6-1 in the Apollo Doors Gateshead Youth League’s Under-16 Division.
Cleveland Hall saw off Blaydon YC 6-0 while Whickham won 3-1 at Felling. ■■THREE sides - Cleveland Hall, Hexham and Wallsend Town claimed 6-0 wins in the Apollo Doors Gateshead Youth League’s Under-15 Division.
They overcame Wallsend Community, Redheugh Reds and Felling respectively. ■■FORMER NUFC Academy player Andy Dobby has been appointed Newcastle United Foundation’s new Football Development Manager.
Dobby will manage the Foundation’s football development team which delivers term-time and holiday soccer schools, advanced coaching, college and university football coaching and the Foundation’s specific girls and disability talent pathways. ■■CALLUM Corkhill, 17, from Killingworth, and Lewis James, 17, from Morpeth, have been awarded sessional coaching contracts with Newcastle United Foundation after graduating from their Coach the Coach Course.
Coach the Coach is run in partnership with Newcastle College and is suitable for 16-18 year-olds interested in a career in football coaching. ■■THREE teams - Spennymoor, Shotton Town and Durham City share the lead at the top of the Durham FA Under-18 League.
They are all on nine points but Stockton have played a game less than their two rivals.
At the bottom, Newcastle Benfield and Swalwell Swifts are yet to pick up a point.
