-

TYNEMET picked up with their first win on the road, beating York College 4-0 in the ECFA Category One Premier League.

Starting full of confidence, TyneMet looked to control the game early - dominating possession and causing problems for the York defence.

Rebecca Hiles went close with a fantastic left-footed effort from 20 yards whch brought a fantastic save from the York goalkeeper.

York looked to catch TyneMet on the counter-attack but struggled to create any clear chances.

The North Tynesiders broke the deadlock when Katie Barker cut inside and hammered the ball home from the edge of the box.

The second period started with TyneMet looking to put the game to bed, Katie Ellwood creating chances from the left and unlucky not to score herself.

Annece Legg continued to win her individual battles in midfield and looked to score a 30-yard screamer only to see the York shotstopper make another stunning save.

Hiles made it 2-0 from the resulting corner, getting on the end of Shelly Brogden’s delivery and scoring off the underside of the bar.

Kacie Elson then added her name to the scoresheet, firing the ball home at the back post after great play on the left.

Barker wrapped up the victory with great individual play, driving into the box and rounding the goakeeper before slotting the ball into the corner from a tight angle.

Carl Chater, head coach of NESA Women’s Football, said: “Winning back to back is never easy in this division and with another clean sheet we have to be pleased with our current form.”
