LYING on her hospice bed, heartbroken mum Sammi Fox treasures her son’s cuddles after being told she has days to live.

Struck down with cancer, the 29-year-old was told the devastating news on Monday that there is nothing medics can do.

Her health has deteriorated so quickly that she is now in the Marie Curie Hospice in Elswick, Newcastle, where family and friends are saying their emotional goodbyes.

And, as she puts forward her funeral plan reflecting her vibrant personality, she is having to make arrangements for her Down’s Syndrome son Bobby to be cared for.

Sammi, of North Shields, who has five-year-old Bobby and 13-year-old Kai, who lives with his dad, is relying on her mum Denise, 51, to move into her house and look after Bobby.

But selfless Sammi is making sure Bobby’s birthday on December 19 and Christmas will be made special when she’s not there.

“She is so selfless. Even though she knows she has days to live, she is making sure everyone else knows what needs doing and making plans for Bobby,” said sister Kelle, 32.

“Her friend Patricia Thomas set up a fund to raise money for her funeral but Sammi says she wants it to also be for her boys and to make Christmas and Bobby’s birthday on December 19 special.

“It’s heartbreaking to see her cuddle Bobby, knowing she’s not got long.

“Even my two-year-old daughter Brooke went to see her and said, ‘Are you going to be an angel like nanna?’ It’s devastating.”

As emotions overflow, from her hospice bed Sammi wrote a heartfelt message to her friends and family on her Facebook page.

It said: “As most of you are aware I’ve been quite unwell for some time now. My diagnosis is bowel cancer which has spread to my ovaries. As of today I’ve been given literally DAYS to spend with my beautiful friends and family! I’m going to miss every single beautiful person I’ve met in my life – there’s some absolutely awesome people in my life and I love you truly!”

She added: “I have two beautiful boys who I’m going to miss growing up!

“I have amazing family and friends that I want to spend my life with but can’t! I just want you all to know how much you truly all mean to me!! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH !!!! ”

In a heartbreaking video taken in the hospice, Sammi is seen listening to Bobby’s favourite song Take Me Home by Jess Glynne as she prepares to say goodbye.

Sammi’s nightmare started about eight months ago when she suffered stomach problems.

A scan discovered a tumour on her ovaries.

On September 8 she received a phone call to tell her the shocking news. She was then offered a full hysterectomy but was in so much pain she was admitted to North Tyneside General on October 2 and then transferred to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital.

Kelle said: “On October 5 she had four litres of fluid drained from her stomach and was put on a morphine pump.

“She had another four litres drained the following day.

“She had a CT scan and on October 7 had a biopsy and a camera down to her bowels.

“On October 8 a consultant said we might be able to shrink the tumour but then on October 9 she got the news she only had days, possibly a week, to live.

“Her main concern was Bobby, but she is so brave she doesn’t show how she feels underneath.

“She hasn’t slept. She is too scared to go to sleep in case she doesn’t wake up.”
