Marske floor Roofing to close in on Morpeth

MARSKE United moved up to second in Northern League Division One on goal difference with a 4-0 win at Jarrow Roofing.

Craig Gott scored and assisted one, before Danny Earl’s secondhalf double put Marske five points behind leaders Morpeth Town with two games in-hand.

Consett moved up to sixth after coming from behind at Seaham Red Star.

Aaron Croft had given Red Star the lead after 13 minutes but Jack Elliot netted a vital equaliser for the Steelman on the stroke of halftime. Michael Sweet then scored the winner on 64 minutes.

Stockton Town edged out a managerles­s Ashington 3-2. Fred Woodhouse, Max Craggs and Sonni Coleman cancelled out Michael Chilton’s brace as Ashington had David Edwards sent off 18 minutes before full-time.

Meanwhile, Sunderland RCA struck a late equaliser to share the spoils with Dunston UTS.

Heaton Stanningto­n moved up to fourth in Northern League Division Two after beating Durham City 2-1 courtesy of Dan Robinson’s firsthalf brace.

South Shields needed penalties to beat Farsley Celtic in the Integro League Cup.

Farsley scored two late goals to level but the Mariners held their nerve to win the shootout 5-3.
