BLYTH INTO THIRD ROUND AFTER A VICTORY AT HOME

BLYTH Town Sunday reached the third round of the George Davison Cup with a 3-1 home win against Block and Tackle.

Goals for Town came from Paul Katz, Ryan McKee and Robert Ridley.

David Hepple notched for Block and Tackle.

Earsdon Red Lion progressed to round three of the Alan Davison Cup with a 2-1 victory at Newbiggin New Ship.

Kevin Halliday netted for the Ship, Matty Newman with both counters for the Lion.

Only one game was played in the Premier Division, a derby clash where Whitehouse Ashington and Ashington Town Central shared six goals. On target for the Whitehouse were Glen Straughan, Richard Hall and Robert Watt.

Strikes for the Central were claimed by Scott Neal (2) and Carl Stobbart.

Bebside Inn went down 10-0 against High Street in Division One.

Chris Laidlaw led the scoring with five goals, Anthony Goldie not far behind with four. Street’s final counter was an own goal.

Ellington Plough triumphed 5-2 at home against Guidepost Shakespear­e Tavern.

Registerin­g two each for the Plough were Luke Scott and Sam Wright, Jordon Dodds also on the mark.

Robert Sharp nabbed both goals for the Shakespear­e.

In a very close game, Newsham Victory lost 2-1 at home against Bedlington Sunday.

Mark Ord scored for the Vic, Ryan Young and Liam Watson for the Bedlington side.

Amble Tavern went out of the FA Sunday Cup, losing 2-1 at Dawdon Park Welfare.

The Tavern and Ashington RAOB are in cup action again this weekend, this time in round two of the NFA Sunday Cup.

The Tavern are at home against Newcastle Westfield Social.

Ashington RAOB travel to meet Blakelaw Social.
